Accept Forgiveness

Real healing happens when you learn to walk in full truth with Jesus. I was at a women’s conference with some friends in April 2021 when I started to understand this. The speaker was talking about forgiveness, and then we were given a time of reflection and prayer. I was searching my heart to see if there was anyone that I hadn’t forgiven. No names were coming to mind, but I still had a knot in my soul for some reason. The speaker stood back up and said, “I feel like someone here needs to forgive themselves.” BOOM! She was talking about me!

I had forgiven everyone else I could think of, but I had never really accepted God’s forgiveness for all of the bad choices I have made. There was a dark pit of pain in my soul that needed to be exposed. It was shame. A friend was able to lead me through a prayer to reveal it, confess it, ask God’s forgiveness for not trusting Him with it, and claim the forgiveness and love of Christ. That pit was instantly filled with hope and joy instead.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Psalm 139:23

Pray this verse as a prayer for yourself. Ask the Lord to reveal any areas that are being hidden from your view, where the enemy is deceiving you into thinking everything is fine. He will show you areas where you didn’t even know you need healing. We hear a lot about the importance of forgiving others. Don’t miss out on accepting the Lord’s forgiveness for yourself. It is the beginning of a freedom that is beyond anything you have felt before.
